Senior Insurance Solutions originated March 2009, but the idea goes back much farther. Jim Mall was working in the retail lumber business in 1988 when he was introduced to the final expense business. Seeing this as not only an opportunity to better provide for his young family, but more importantly a way to spend more time with them, he accepted the job. It was not easy. In fact at one point he decided to return to the lumber yard only to be asked by the gentleman who brought him into the final expense business to, “give it a little more time”. Nearly thirty years later, he is literally among a handful of agents in the country working less than 100 days per year while earning a very, very nice living. Even final expense veterans across America who don’t know him by name have heard about “that guy in Hays,Kansas”. My name is Darin (Vach) Holovach. This is my 14th year in the final expense business. After a failed attempt in the securities and financial services market, a friend of mine introduced me to the world of final expense life insurance. My initial intrigue was in the leads. I would actually get to see people who requested information about my product, as opposed to before where it was all referral-based marketing. I started my career as a captive agent. After about two years of beating the streets with this company, in a territory that was far, far, away, I decided that being an independent agent was the way to go (more products and closer to home). Now, I have products that meet any client’s needs and I am well compensated for helping people. I am a firm believer that (like anything else), you will get out of this business exactly what you put into it. Last year, I was in the field selling for about 80 days (this does not include working from home time) and netted (after expenses) over $150,000. I am married with three kids and get to go to all of the ballgames and recitals and I have a ton of time home with my family. This business, more than money, has given our family the time and freedom to do the things we want to do, like allowing my wife to be a stay at home mom.

In March of 2011, I changed the course for the rest of my life. I was tired of being controlled by my job, long hours and financial hardships were taking a toll on me and my young family. My 2 daughters were growing up fast and I wasn’t around as much as I wanted to be. I had to do something to get out of the rat race and take control of my current situation. That’s when I decided to venture out of my job and found a career in the insurance industry.

With no prior sales experience or knowledge of the business, I quickly obtained my Life Insurance License. The comprehensive one on one training, lead based marketing and overall agency support put me on the fast track to success. I made my first sale in April, 2011. That year, I earned Father of the year and a six figure income. I was able to spend more time with my family and have a better quality of life, while helping others with their final expense needs. My business has grown every year since and my time in the field has been less than 90 days per year. I am able to do this with our vast array of competitive products and renewal commissions. Renewal’s allow me to build a passive income and continue annual growth of 10%-15%. With our weekly conference calls and continuing education, I am able to insure our clients are put in the best situation possible.

I live in Omaha, NE with my wife of 16 years and our 4 children, I am an active member of Holy Cross Parish and currently sit on the Board of Directors for Senior Insurance Solutions. Most of all, I am more active in my kid’s lives then I could have ever imagined.

I was first working at a clothing store as an assistant manager, and was waiting to become manager as soon as the company built another store. I was learning all the management skills when I discovered that when I became “Manager” I would get a big pay raise. My raise consisted of working 80 hours per week instead of 50. The pay per hour was literally the same. This news was not good, as a college graduate from Fort Hays State University, with a B.S. in business administration; I had visions of crawling up the corporate ladder making more money and working less, and playing more golf.
In 1974 a gentleman walked into the clothing store looking to hire insurance agents. He wanted the names of some people that had applied to work at our clothing store, but we could not hire because we had no openings. “I said; I might be interested.”That was one of the best days of my life, and my introduction to the insurance business, which has spanned over 37 years.
My success in the insurance business was a roller coaster ride. Some of the brokerage firms promised leads, training, advancement, higher commissions, which was not always true. In 2010, my son, Craig Miller introduced me to Jim Mall, the owner of Senior Insurance Solutions, selling final expense insurance. Craig had started with Jim Mall about a year earlier and told me about his production and how simple it was. That turned out to be, The Best Day Of My Life.
Jim Mall has perfected the final expense selling business. He has put together a complete training and support system, lead system, with top commissions.

I am an ordained Presbyterian Church in America minister, currently serving a church revitalization pastorate in Southern Illinois. I began my final expense insurance career in 2008, when I was without a call to a church, thus I needed a job! The final expense insurance field has provided for my family & it has given me an opportunity to help people. I now have the privilege of serving as the pastor of a church again, but I continue selling final expense insurance to supplement my income. I have been married to Jill for 10 1/2 years now with two lovely daughters Kaeleah – 16 and Brynn – 8. We live in Omaha, NE where we built our forever home 8 years ago. Jill is a part-time county clerk for Sarpy County and of course I have been in the insurance biz for approx. 16 years now (goodness time flies).

I started with Farm Bureau Insurance 16 years ago in Hays, KS after graduating from Fort Hays State University (which is where I met Jill:). Oddly enough that’s where I first met Jim Mall (assigned insured of mine). I was an agent for approx. 8 years in Hays and Kansas City until I took a managerial position in Omaha in late 07′. I lasted approx. 2 years doing that before I realized personal production in final expense is where I wanted to be. I contacted Jim in late 09′ and started selling in Jan of 10′. I couldn’t be happier. I have submitted approx. 260k-300k+ every yr. for the last 6 years as an independent final expense agent and am living the dream (income + time = lifestyle).

Logan Shellenberger is the father of 5 amazing children ranging from 9-21. He has been selling Life insurance since 2008. Before this he taught English in China for 7 years and 6th grade for 4 years. Ryan Shellenberger wears many hats. He is the lucky husband of his amazing wife, Julie and parent to 4 wonderful children. He also is a high school Math teacher and has been teaching for 20 years. They love living in Colorado and are in awe of the amazing mountains and colorful sunsets.
