Let’s meet our featured agents for October, Ron and Nancy Shaffer.
While we are both retired private school teachers, Nancy was formerly a floral designer and Ron worked for several years for other insurance companies.
We moved to North Carolina from Seattle, Washington in June of 2015. Although we love North Carolina, we miss the beautiful landscapes of Seattle we enjoyed everyday, and mostly the family we left on the west coast.
We have four children and three grandchildren. We are very fortunate to live close to our oldest daughter, son-in-law and the three grandchildren in North Carolina. Our second daughter has lived and worked in Quito, Ecuador for the past four years in an international school and was recently married. Our oldest son lives in Portland, Oregon. Our youngest son and his wife live in Kirkland, Washington, and he recently graduated from the University of Washington’s school of engineering.
Our first day starting with Senior Insurance solutions was January 18, 2016. We feel very fortunate to be a member of this team and greatly enjoy the work. The best part of the business is the people we are privileged to meet, establish relationships with, and help.
We enjoy watching the grand-kids play sports and participate in school activities. However, without the grand-kids, we love to ride bicycles and play golf together.
We enjoy eating Mexican food and listening to Christian music.
While we enjoy watching the Carolina Panthers, we still root for the Seattle teams, the Seahawks, Sounders, and the Mariners.
We would say that it is very important that you first of all enjoy meeting people and conversing with them. It is also extremely necessary that you have a great work ethic which compels you to be kind and respectful under stress. Finally, you must never sacrifice your integrity for the opportunity to make a few dollars more.
We greatly appreciate the training, help, consideration, and accessibility we have received from Jim, Logan, and the rest of the team as we learn this business. Finally, we greatly enjoy the opportunity to work together both in the field and at home. While we feel it is a great occupation for men and women of all ages, it is especially rewarding for those near or in retirement.
